Minister makes food hygiene pledge

Thailand will boost its food security and hygiene in order to prevent the transmission of Covid-19, agricultural minister Chalermchai Sri-on told the 35th Session of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Asia and Pacific Regional Conference.

"The country is ready to respond to the food [shortage] crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic," Mr Chalermchai told a four-day virtual conference in reference to shipments being cancelled due to the virus being found in food products.

The conference was told the pandemic continued to threaten lives and livelihoods across many countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
