Manhunt for Krabi prison escapees

KRABI: Two convicts serving drug sentences broke out of Krabi prison, in Muang district, early on Wednesday.

Arnon Denmad, 32, from Trang's Kantang district, and Monthon Kansaman, 47, from Plai Phraya district of Krabi, escaped between 3am and 6am, when warders found them missing from their cell.

The two men reportedly cut through an iron bar in a window and slipped through the opening.

They then broke through a barbed wire-topped fence and scaled over the prison wall using three blankets tied together as a rope.

They left the blanket-rope hanging from the wall.

Muang police chief Pol Col Narong Laksanawimol said investigators were examining recordings from security cameras at the prison and at the provincial bus terminal, where the two men might have taken a bus out of town.

The record of people who visited the two escapees during the past two weeks would also be checked.

A hunt was underway for the two men.
