Fire razes 13 houses in Kanchanaburi

KANCHANABURI: A fire destroyed 13 house in a community near a market in the heart of Kanchanaburi town early on Monday morning.

There were no reports of death or injuries.

At last 20 fire engines and crews were dispatched to fight the inferno, on Pak Phraek road,  which began about 2.45am.

Narrow roads leading into the community hindered the firefighters' efforts. They had to spray water over a wall to control the fire and prevent it spreading further.

It took them two hours to bring the blaze under control. By then 13 houses had burned down, one of them over 100 years old.

The cause of fire was being investigated. Damage was initially estimated at 10 million baht.
