AYUTTHAYA: Another Covid-19 infection has been registered in this central province, raising its tally to 38, provincial public health chief Dr Peera Areerat revealed on Sunday.

Dr Peera said the new infection is a 53-year-old male government employee in Bang Pa-in district. He is the father of the province's 23rd infection.

Of the 38 Covid-19 patients registered in the province, 21 have recovered and 17 are still being treated in hospital.

During active case-finding tests on 1,818 people deemed at-risk in communities near the Ayutthaya Municipality office, Chao Phrom market and the old city, along with about 1,000 others at Si Khwa market in Wang Noy district, not a single infection was found.

Active case-finding tests are also being conducted by immigration police and health officials on construction workers, particularly migrants, at various campsites around major construction projects in the province, Dr Peera said.
