Six workers at Siriraj Hospital have tested positive for Covid-19 but did not contract the disease inside the building, an official said.
Dr Prasit Watanapa, dean of Mahidol University's Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, said on Tuesday that a worker had contracted the disease while in a residential area outside the hospital.
The person was a member of the support staff at Adulyadejvikrom Building and had nothing to do with the treatment of any patients, he said.
Five other workers who had been in close contact with the infected person also tested positive for the virus.
None of the six were involved in the treatment of patients, Dr Prasit said.
Other workers who had been in contact with the six infected workers have been quarantined and Adulyadejvikrom Building has been disinfected, he added.
