Sedan driver dies in red light pile-up

NAKHON RATCHASIMA: The driver of a small sedan was killed in a five-vehicle pile-up at an intersection in Muang district in the small hours of Monday.

Pol Lt Thanawin Pimpakdee, a Muang duty officer, said the accident occurred about 2.25am.

A white MG sedan crashed into the rear of a brand-new six-wheel Hino lorry stopped at a red light at the Ratchasima intersection on the Mitrapap highway.

The lorry was forced forward into the back of a Mitsubishi pickup in front of it. Two other pick-ups were also damaged.

The driver of the MG, Viriya Sirichaiwongsakul, 50, of Nakhon Ratchasima's Muang district, was killed.  

Pongkorn Kaewwongsa, 56, the lorry driver, said he was delivering the vehicle to its buyer in Buri Ram.  

Police were investigating.
