NAKHON PHANOM: A ranger patrol seized 1.3 million methamphetamine pills found in bags left on the Mekong river bank in Tha Uthen district on Tuesday morning.

The meth pills were in packages inside four fertiliser sacks on the riverside near Ban Hat Sai Phe village in tambon Nong Thao.

Authorities believed the drugs were smuggled by long-tail boat across the river from Laos, and left on the river bank to be picked up by couriers.

The seized drugs were worth about 100 million baht street value.

No suspects were arrested.

The drugs were taken to the drug prevention and suppression centre for the upper Northeast in Tha Uthen district.
