King and Queen swoop in to help Covid-affected workers

Their Majesties the King and Queen gave 7,500 meal boxes a day to people affected by Covid-19 in Samut Sakhon from Saturday.

Teerapat Kutchamath, deputy Samut Sakhon governor, received the food boxes, donated by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana at Samut Sakhon Hospital to hand over to officers tackling the coronavirus and people affected by the pandemic as they were concerned about hardship caused by the disease.

Their Majesties subsidised the meals and designated the Thai Restaurant Association and Restaurants club in Samut Sakhon to arrange the food to serve medical officers, soldiers and police who combated with the coronavirus at hospitals, field hospitals and surveillance centres in all districts.

Thais and migrants of any nationality or religion who have been affected by the disease have also been welcome to make use of the scheme.

Their Majesties aim at giving fresh, clean and safe food to maintain then health of people. The boxes will be directly delivered to the places to avoid social gatherings to receive the food, he said.

The restaurant club in the province has joined hands with 30 restaurants to cook the meals.

Meanwhile, active case finding was scaled up at other factories and public places in the province.
