AYUTTHAYA: Two more Covid-19 infections have been detected in this central province, with one of them linked to Pornpat fresh market in Pathum Thani province.

Ayutthaya public health chief Peera Areerat said on Tuesday the new cases, both women, raised the total number of infections in the province to 55.

One is a 33-year-old employee at Navanakorn Industrial Estate in Pathum Thani province. The woman, patient No.54, went to work by public transport, according to her travel record.

Health officials had tested her husband, who was considered at high-risk, and the result was  negative, said Dr Peera.

The other patient, 43, lives in Bang Sai district, and works in Pathum Thani’s Khlong Luang district. The woman, patient No.55, had visited Pornpat wet market in Pathum Thani, the centre of a Covid-19 cluster and which remains closed.

The patient’s travel record showed she also went to Talad Thai market and Future Park Rangsit in Pathum Thani. The disease investigation showed there were nine people at risk of infection, and all had been tested for Covid-19. Their results were pending, the Ayutthaya health chief said.

Of the total 55 cases in the province, 44 had recovered with 11 remaining in hospital, he said.
