The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) will resume 14 local train services, starting on Monday in line with the easing of Covid-19 prevention measures throughout most of the country.
The decision is a response to rising demand for train services after the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) began relaxing restrictions, the SRT public relations team said in a post on the agency’s Facebook page on Saturday.
The train services that will reopen on Monday are:
- Eastern line trains No 275/276 Bangkok-Aranyaprathet-Bangkok and 283/284 Bangkok-Phlu Taluang-Bangkok;
- Northern line trains No 209/210 Bangkok-Ban Takhli-Bangkok, 317/318 Bangkok-Lop Buri-Bangkok and 303/304 Ayutthaya-Lop Buri-Ayutthaya;
- Southern line trains No 259/260 Thon Buri-Nam Tok-Thon Buri and 251/252 Thon Buri-Prachuap Khiri Khan-Thon Buri.
Services are still suspended in some areas considered at higher risk for the coronavirus, the PR team said. Passengers can book tickets via the 1690 hotline around the clock or check for more information online.
The SRT in early January suspended rail services on all weekend sighteeing trains and 30 regular passenger rail services after a second wave of Civid infections started spreading to many provinces. The aim was to limit travel that could further expand coronavirus transmission.
