PHUKET: A section of about 35 metres of the road around the Khlong Kratha reservoir in Muang district of this southern island resort province has collapsed, posing a danger to motorists.
Wichien Sangsai, 53, a resident in Moo 5 village in tambon Chalong, said the collapse has left a fissure about 10 metres deep on the side of the road facing the reservoir.
This part of the road has also subsided, causing a 100-metre-long crack.
The Tambon Chalong Municipality has put up warning signs and placed old car tyres and steel barriers on the road. Repair work has not yet started, Mr Wichien said.
