Teacher, student die in motorcycle crash

SAMUT PRAKAN: A trainee teacher and a student were killed when their motorcycle crashed into a light pole on a road median strip in Muang district early on Wednesday.

Pol Capt Panyapol Boonsri, duty officer at Bang Poo police station, said the accident occurred about 1.30am on Phuttharaksa road in front of the Eua-arthon housing village in tambon Phraeksa.

Prasert Kukkhunthod, 24, a trainee teacher, and Alongkorn Namsa-nga, 14, a Mathayomsuksa 4 student of Pathum Khongkha Samut Prakan School, died at the scene.

Puwadet Srisa-ard, a student at the same school, told police he was following them on another motorcycle. They were returning home from a party at a restaurant on Phuttharaksa road.

He said the motorycle was driven by Prasert, with the student riding pillion. It suddenly swerved off the road and onto the median strip, and crashed into a light stanchion.

Police were investigating the circumstances.
