King accepts clash patients

His Majesty the King has accepted as patients under royal patronage the protesters and police injured during the Sunday clash outside the 1st Infantry Regiment barracks, King's Guard, Bangkok.

The announcement was made on the website which says that 10 people and 26 policemen who suffered injuries and require medical treatment are to be accepted as patients under royal patronage.

After the clash, 22 protesters were also detained by police. A police officer, Pol Capt Wiwat Sertsanit, of Thammasala police station, died of a heart attack while on duty.

According to the website, His Majesty the King has ordered royally-bestowed wreaths to be placed at the funeral rite of Pol Capt Wiwat at Wat Tri Thotsathep in Bangkok.
