Contest to raise SDG awareness

Charoen Pokphand Group (CP), True Digital Plus and their partners are aiming to strengthen the local video game industry by launching the “SDGs Game Fest”, an online game design contest.

The project is said to be aligned with the United Nations’ International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development initiative, to achieve 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) by 2030 and raise public awareness.

Game concepts from over 100 teams were submitted from Nov 15 to Feb 15. Winning teams are expected to be announced in June.

The main winner will receive 15 million baht in funding to help turn their concept into a full-fledged online game that will be exhibited at the Thailand Game Show 2022.

“CP Group is committed to conducting business responsibly based on corporate governance and following the path of sustainable development in terms of economy, society and the environment, to ensure the health and well-being for present and future generations," said Noppadol Dej-Udom, CP's chief sustainability officer.

"We are building on the achievement of our 2020 Sustainability Targets by enhancing the level of ambition across our materiality issues. We have set Net Zero Carbon and Zero Waste Targets for 2030, and will continue to work closely with stakeholders towards achieving the United Nations’ 17 SDGs by 2030. These are significant challenges and we will need strong collaboration from all sectors to accomplish these goals.”

The partners include the Department of International Organization, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), SDG Move, True Visions Group Company Limited and True Axion Interactive Company Limited. The latter two companies are a well-known hub for leading Asean online game developers, and have experience in designing and developing games related to sustainable development topics.
