No French entry ban for Thais

France is not imposing an entry ban on travellers vaccinated with Chinese-made vaccines from entering the country but they need to follow conditions when travelling there, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' spokesman Tanee Sangrat.

Mr Tanee on Sunday dismissed as "distorted" a report that people who received Chinese-manufactured vaccines are not allowed to enter France.

However, travellers inoculated with any of the vaccines that have yet to be approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) must meet certain conditions when travelling to France. He said this group of travellers are allowed entry to France for essential reasons such as studying, working in the transport sector, or being in transit to other countries. They are also required to present a negative Covid-19 test no less than 72 hours before departure and undergo another test upon arrival.

He said travellers from Thailand who receive one of the vaccines approved by EMA no longer need an essential reason to travel to France but they still have to present a negative test. The EMA, the agency of the EU responsible for supervision of medicines, has not approved Chinese-produced vaccines and AstraZeneca manufactured outside the EU.
