Two men were arrested for illegally planting 87 species of marijuana and their equipment seized in Nonthaburi yesterday.

The suspects, identified as Mr Woradet, 49, and Mr Somphop, 42, were arrested after a clue given by a suspect arrested earlier pinpointing the location where they had agreed to receive the marijuana seeds and equipment for planting it.

Pol Col Piyarat Suparat, chief of the Patrol and Special Operations Division, said Mr Woradet was first arrested in C9 building on Popular Road in Nonthaburi's Pak Kret district.

After a search, police discovered 10 marijuana plants in Mr Woradet's room.

A further 77 plants and equipment were later discovered at a house where Mr Somphop was caught planting the marijuana in Soi Happyland Plaza 1 in Bangkok's Bang Kapi district.

All were international marijuana strains worth about 10,000 baht each.

They face charges of colluding to producing and sell Type 5 narcotics without permission.
