A total of 119 Covid-19 deaths and 14,260 new cases were reported Saturday, the Public Health Ministry reported on Saturday morning.
Of the new cases, 13,605 were among the general population and 655 were inmates.
Since April 1, when the third wave of Covid-19 began, there have been 453,104 Covid-19 patients, 300,363 of whom have recovered.
Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been 481,967 Covid-19 cases, 327,789 of whom recovered.
The death toll was at 3,836 in the third wave and 3,930 from the beginning of the pandemic early last year.
The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration said in the afternoon briefing that the 119 fatalities were aged 30-94, with an average age of 66. Sixty-six of them were men.
By nationality, 114 were Thais, two were Myanmar nationals and one each was from Bangladesh, Indonesia and Japan.
The underlying conditions or risk factors among them were hypertension (62), diabetes (49) and high cholesterol (25). Seven did not have existing conditions.
Fifty-six either lived in or visited outbreak areas, 24 caught the virus from family members and 24 others from colleagues, friends and other people.
Geographically, Bangkok led with 119 fatalities, followed by 19 in nearby provinces — Samut Sakhon (7), Nakhon Pathom (6), Pathum Thani (5) and Samut Prakan (1).
The South saw eight deaths — three in Narathiwat and one each in Yala, Songkhla, Satun, Chumphon and Nakhon Si Thammarat.
Other provinces reporting more than one death were: Chon Buri (3), Nakhon Nayok (3), Ayutthaya (3), Ratchaburi (3), Nakhon Sawan (2), Chaiyaphim (2) and Si Sa Ket (2).
The other provinces reporting one death each were: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Samut Songkram, Uthai Thani Sing Buri, Pichit, Sukothai, Roi Et, Nakhon Phanom, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nong Bua Lamphu and Ubon Ratchathani.
The 14,260 new cases consisted of 13,593 local infections, 13 imported cases and 655 in prisons. Of the local infections, 9,714 were confirmed at hospitals and 3,878 during mass testing.
Greater Bangkok logged 5,875 new cases and 80 new fatalities while four southern border provinces had 636 new cases and five new deaths.
Bangkok alone had 2,745 new cases, followed by Samut Sakhon (1,054), Samut Prakan (908), Nonthaburi (663), Chon Buri (662), Chachoengsao (385). Rayong (332), Kanchanaburi (294), Pathum Thani (285) and Ubon Ratchathani (224).
The 12 imported cases were from the United Kingdom (1), Germany (1), Russia (1), Cambodia (3) and Myanmar (6).
On Friday, 150,248 people received treatment for Covid-19 at hospitals - 86,045 at conventional hospitals and 64,203 at field hospitals.
Among them, 4,099 were seriously ill and 939 were dependent on ventilators.
There were seven new clusters - two in Samut Sakhon (a frozen food factory with 15 new cases, a ready-to-eat vegetable and fruit factory with 20 cases); two in Samut Prakan (a construction workers camp with 54 cases and a shoe factory with 29 cases); one in Kanchanaburi (a frozen food factory with 141 cases); one in Phatthalung (a primary school with 14 cases); and one in Chanthaburi (a rubber-wood mill with 24 cases).
Globally, Covid-19 cases rose by 573,768 to 194.04 million. The worldwide death toll was up by 8,646 to 4.16 .million. The United States had the most cases at 35.28 million, up 67,485. Thailand ranked 47th globally by its 481,967 accumulated Covid-19 cases.
