The Finance Ministry is developing a system to allow participants of the government's Khon La Khrueng co-payment scheme to pay for food and drinks when ordering them via food delivery services.
Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, spokesman for the Centre for Economic Situation Administration (CESA), said the system will ensure compliance with the regulations and guard against abuse of the scheme and corruption.
The move came after the Line Man food delivery service said it would suspend payment services for the co-payment scheme to avoid violating the Finance Ministry's regulations.
The ministry has insisted payment of food and drinks under the Khon La Khrueng scheme must be made face-to-face only, so online payment via the Line application breaks the rule.
Under the co-payment scheme, the government pays for half of the food, drink and general goods purchased worth up to 150 baht per person per day, capped at 3,000 baht per person.
Customers use Pao Tang e-wallet while shops use Tung Ngern e-wallet to make transactions using QR codes.
The ministry requires face-to-face transactions to prevent misuse and corruption.
Mr Thanakorn also said the government has revised the economic stimulus scheme, "Ying Chai Ying Dai" (the more you spend, the more you get) e-voucher cash-back scheme.
Under the scheme, participants receive vouchers in their Pao Tang e-wallets at a rate of 10-15% of spending, with a maximum limit of 7,000 baht per person. The e-voucher caps the amount it uses to calculate the cash-back received at 5,000 baht daily, regardless of the daily amount spent.
