Former graft fighter Vicha Mahakun on Monday declined to comment on the initial outcome of an investigation into the alleged mishandling of the hit-and-run case of Red Bull scion Vorayuth Yoovidhya, saying he would wait for a final decision.
According to media reports, the probe committee set up to investigate events surrounding former deputy attorney-general Nate Naksuk's decision to not indict Mr Vorayuth had cleared Mr Nate of committing serious offences.
However, the panel reportedly found flaws in Mr Nate's performance in the case and recommended that his pension and promotion be suspended for two years.
The panel also said that Mr Nate should not be appointed as a senior prosecutor.
Mr Vicha said the panel's findings have yet to be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Commission and he would rather not make any comment until a final decision.
However, Mr Vicha said the commission tends to rule as "flawed conduct" if corruption is not involved and that he needs to see the details of the findings. The commission is scheduled to consider the findings on Sept 10.
