NAKHON RATCHASIMA: Two new Covid-19 clusters were found in Bua Yai district, at a noodle soup shop and a Lotus store, with 14 people in total testing positive.
The provincial communicable disease control panel said yesterday that infections were found at the Wain noodle soup shop and the Lotus branch in Bua Yai. Investigators had yet to discover the source of the infections.
The noodle shop owner developed a fever and a cough and later tested positive on Sept 10. Investigators began tracking down people who were at risk.
A female employee at the Lotus store who ate at Wain noodles later complained of muscle pains and a headache and she tested positive Checks found more people linked to both stores were also infected.
At the noodle shop, there were a total of nine people -- members of the owner's family and employees. The boyfriend of an infected employee at the shop was also infected.
At the Lotus store, three employees were infected, one of whom later infected her husband.
In total, 14 people from the noodle shop and the Lotus store were confirmed infected, the announcement said.
District authorities closed both premises and were seeking people deemed at risk.
Bua Yai municipality tested vendors at the municipal market using antigen kits.
No new infections were detected there yesterday.
