The MRT Blue and Purple Lines will from Friday extend their service hours until 10pm.

This follows the government's decision to shorten the curfew, imposed on 29 provinces with serious Covid-19 outbreaks, to between 10pm and 4am.

The change in operating times is in line with changes to the curfew period taking effect tomorrow, said Pakapong Sirikantaramas, governor of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA).

MRT Blue Line services will commence at 6am and end at 10pm each day, while the MRT Purple Line will operate from 5.30am until 10pm, Mr Pakapong said.

Car park facilities at 10 stations along the Blue Line and four stations on the Purple Line will be open from 5am to 10pm, he said.

The 10 Blue Line stations with a car park are Lat Phrao, Thailand Cultural Centre, Lak Song, Ratchadaphisek, Huai Khwang, Phra Ram 9, Phetchaburi, Sukhumvit, Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, and Sam Yan, Mr Pakapong said.

The four Purple Line stations that have a car park are Khlong Bang Phai, Sam Yaek Bang Yai, Bang Rak Noi Tha It, Yaek Nonthaburi 1, he added.

Passengers are encouraged to check the adjusted timetables at the MRT Bangkok Metro Facebook, the Bangkok MRT app, the website www.bemplc.co.th, or call 02 624 5200.
