PM writes to Japan's Kishida

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha yesterday sent a congratulatory letter to new Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on the occasion of his assumption of office.

Gen Prayut said he would like to take the opportunity to commend the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between Thailand and Japan that have flourished for many years.

"Next year marks the 135th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries, which is an important opportunity for us to commemorate our close and long-standing relations, including the warm friendship between our peoples," he said.

In this regard, he said he looks forward to working closely with the new Japanese premier so that the two nations may prosper.
