Villager seriously wounded in gun attack

PATTANI: A villager was seriously injured in a gun attack in Nong Chik district late on Saturday night, police said.

Muhman Yisidi, 36, of Moo 1 village in tambon Don Rak, was standing in front of a shop selling construction materials when gunshots rang out. He was hit three times in the torso and two times in the left arm.

Seriously injured, he was rushed to Pattani Hospital for treatment.

Police went to the scene on Sunday morning for the gathering of evidence and questioning of witnesses.

An investigation was underway to establish whether the attack was related to insurgency in the region.
