NAKHON RATCHASIMA: Talad Suranaree farm produce market in Muang district will reopen on Saturday, a month after it was declared the centre of a major Covid-19 virus cluster and ordered closed.

Phit Sonthi, legal adviser to Talad Suranaree Co, said on Friday the provincial governor had issued an order allowing people to return to the wholesale market place on Oct 11.

The market would be reopened on Saturday and vendors could trade as normal, Mr Phit said.

Talad Suranee, a major fresh produce market, was ordered closed on Sept 12 after many people caught the virus there. About 500 infections were liked to the market, with cases found in 19 districts.

The market has since been thorougnly cleaned.

When it reopens, the more than 1,400 vendors there are required to undergo antigen kit Covid-19 testing every seven days. People entering the market must strictly abide by disease screening measures, Mr Phit said.

The provincial communicable disease control panel on Friday reported three more Covid-19 deaths and 165 new cases.

This brought the provincial total to 28,192 and the covid-related death toll to 206.
