PM to take part in Asean meets

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will attend the 38th and 39th Asean summits and related meetings on Oct 26-28 via videoconference, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said on Wednesday.

The series of meetings will mark the conclusion of Brunei Darussalam's role as this year's Asean chair, under the theme of "We Care, We Prepare, We Prosper". Cambodia is set to assume Asean's chairmanship next year.

In addition to attending the 38th and 39th Asean summits, the prime minister will participate in meetings with Asean's dialogue partners, namely China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, Australia, the United States, Russia and New Zealand.

Discussions at the summits will focus on promoting cooperation to address Covid-19 and its impact, post-pandemic recovery, Asean community building, as well as key regional and global developments.
