120 border crossers arrested

KANCHANABURI: Police arrested 120 Myanmar nationals for illegally crossing the border into Thailand, in Sai Yok district on Sunday.

A patrol of police and administrative officials found them in forest near Moo 4 village in tambon Si Mongkon about 10am, after being tipped off to their presence.

There were 65 men and 55 women.

Their temperatures were checked, for signs of Covid-19, and all were normal. 

The told officials they came from Dawei, Yangon, Moulmein and Bago townships. They had paid 17,000-20,000 baht each to Myanmar brokers for jobs in Bangkok, Samut Sakhon and Nakhon Pathom provinces in Thailand.

The job seekers were handed over to Sai Yok police for legal proceedings on charges of illegal entry and violating the emergency decree, pending repatriation.
