Public invited to debate top issues

A forum dubbed "Thailand Talks" will take place in November to spur constructive dialogue on pressing political, social and economic issues.

Given the deeply divided nature of the political and social landscape in the kingdom, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF), together with several media networks, has organised the talks to reconnect Thai people with opposing views both online and on-site on Nov 20.

Organisers said they will match pairs of people with completely different views on certain subjects in the hope they can come to empathise with different perspectives. The matching algorithm will ask participants to answer questions upon registration.

The topics cover a range of issues that are deepening the divides within Thai society, for example, the policy of giving cash handouts or LGBT rights. The answers will be considered in the process of matching and the questions will become the pairs' discussion topics when they meet.

Those people who are interested should register at www.thailandtalks.org or via the official websites of the media partners.
