There were 7,592 new Covid-19 cases and 39 more fatalities recorded during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Monday morning.
There were 6,881 cases in the general population and 711 among prison inmates.
The number of new cases fell from 7,960 announced on Sunday, when the country recorded 53 more deaths.
On Sunday, 7,495 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
Since April 1, when the third wave of Covid-19 began, Thailand has treated 1,946,728 Covid-19 patients, 1,830,037 of whom have recovered to date.
Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been 1,975,591 Covid-19 cases, with 1,857,463 complete recoveries so far.
The death toll stood at 19,609 during the third wave and 19,703 since the beginning of the pandemic.
Apisamai Srirangson, a spokeswoman for the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said in the afternoon briefing that the 39 latest fatalities were aged 25 to 90 years and included one German national.
Bangkok recorded two more deaths while a further four were reported in the adjacent provinces of Samut Prakan (2) and Pathum Thani (2).
Other central plain provinces further from the capital recorded eight more deaths - in Prachin Buri (3), Chanthaburi (1), Phetchaburi (1), Chon Buri (1), Ayutthaya (1) and Lop Buri (1).
The Northeast had three more fatalities - in Nakhon Ratchasima (2) and Ubon Ratchathani (1).
The South reported 15 more deaths – in Yala (5), Satun (3), Nakhon Si Thammarat (2), Pattani (2), Trang (1), Phuket (1) and Surat Thani (1).
The North saw seven fatalities – in Chiang Mai (2), Kamphaeng Phet (2), Chiang Rai (1), Tak (1) and Sukhothai (1).
The 7,592 new cases included 6,871 local infections and 10 imported cases. Of the local infections, 6,743 were confirmed at hospitals and 128 via mass testing.
“The number of new cases, seriously ill patients and new fatalities are in a downward trend. We’d like to see this trend continue despite more relaxed restrictions on business and activities.
"This has happened thanks to strict control measures by the government and cooperation from businesses and the public,” Dr Apisamai said.
Bangkok had 865 new cases, followed by 462 in Songkhla, 429 in Chiang Mai, 406 in Pattani, 372 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, 295 in Narathiwat, 266 in Yala, 219 in Samut Prakan, 179 in Chon Buri and 179 in Surat Thani.
“CCSA is concerned about clusters from Kathin robe-giving activities in Yasothon and Roi Et where participants returned from Khon Kaen, as well as in Si Sa Ket, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Kanchanaburi, Sing Buri and Satun,” Dr Apisamai said.
“There were also clusters from funerals in Kalasin, Kanchanaburi, Phatthalung and Songkhla… from construction camps in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Nayok, Chanthaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan and Songkhla and from factories in Khon Kaen, Samut Prakan, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phetchaburi and Phatthalung.”
There were also clusters from markets in Chiang Mai (65 new cases), Surin, Udon Thani, Phitsanulok, Chanthaburi, Chon Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi and Songkhla.
The 10 imported cases were from the United States (1) United Kingdom (2), France (1), Rusia (1), Belgium (1), Cambodia (2), Myanmar (1) and the United Arab Emirates (1).
On Sunday 98,425 people received Covid-19 treatment at hospitals, including 1,997 seriously ill patients and 441 dependent on ventilators.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 342,064 in 24 hours to 250.61 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 4,595 to 5.06 million.
The US had the most cases at 47.34 million, up 23,165, and the most deaths at 775,218, up 123.
