King urges kids to study, do their duty

The most important duty for children is to study, because this helps them acquire knowledge and moral virtue, said His Majesty the King in a message for this year's National Children's Day.

"Everyone is bound by duties which we must perform. Children's most important duty is to study and acquire knowledge and moral virtue.

"This is so that they can be self-dependent and forge happiness and progress for themselves as well as society in the future. Children must put their minds to studying and pursue it always with diligence and perseverance," said the King.

His Majesty gave the message yesterday, ahead of National Children's Day on Saturday. National Children's Day falls on the second Saturday of January.
