Thai invite for crown prince

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has extended an invitation to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, crown prince, for a visit to Thailand.

Gen Prayut, who wrapped up his one-day visit to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, cited the invitation on his Facebook page.

He added the government was ready to appoint a Thai ambassador to Riyadh following the normalisation of three decades of strained relations.

His visit to Saudi Arabia was made at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, who serves as deputy prime minister and defence minister.

A visit to Thailand by the crown prince will usher in a new page in history for the two kingdoms, Gen Prayut said.

Tanee Sangrat, the Foreign Ministry spokesman, said that during Gen Prayut's visit, Foreign Affairs Minister Don Pramudwinai also met his counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud.

The pair discussed how to best restore diplomatic relations.
