NAKHON RATCHASIMA: A technical college in Bua Yai district has suspended on-site learning until Feb 9 after 19 students were diagnosed with Covid-19, raising the number of educational places with cluster infections to seven.

Buayai Technical College announced the temporary closure for deep cleaning and disinfection. During this period, the college would switch to online learning. Teachers and college staff were told to work from home.

ATK tests were conducted on teachers, staff and students on Saturday. No new infections were detected.

Currently, new Covid-19 clusters were reported in seven schools in the northeastern province.

Prasong Prathumwan, director of Ratchasima Witthayalai School, on Saturday announced the suspension of on-site learning until Feb 25, as some students had tested positive for Covid-19 after taking part in a football match and a photo session.

The public school in Muang district would provide online learning to prevent any further clusters of infections in its premises.

Health officials had been keeping a close watch on clusters of infections at six schools in the province. The sixth cluster was at Triam Udom Suksa Nom Klao School in tambon Khok Kruad of Muang district, where three more students were infected.

This had raised the total number of infected students and teachers at the boarding school to 30.
