King's message to Q Elizabeth

His Majesty the King sent a message to Queen Elizabeth II to congratulate her on the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne on Sunday.

The message read:

On this historic and joyful occasion of Your Majesty's Platinum Jubilee, Queen Suthida and I have the great privilege to offer, on behalf of the people of Thailand, our warmest congratulations and very best wishes for Your Majesty's health and happiness.

Brightly as thousands of Jubilee beacons together shine, Your Majesty's unprecedented reign appears before the world as the epitome of constitutional monarchy. Your unfailing dedication to duty and service inspires the faith and confidence of your countrymen, giving strength to national unity and resilience. In world affairs, the global appeal that the United Kingdom enjoys as a great nation clearly owes much to the prestige of your beneficent reign.

The bond of affection between our two countries, as Your Majesty had once kindly noted, is deep and lasting. This was true also of the cordiality and mutual esteem between Your Majesty and my august father, His late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The two State Visits to Thailand in 1972 and 1996 made by Your Majesty and His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, were truly unique and so remain firmly etched in the hearts of the Thai people. And, of course, nor shall I forget the audience Your Majesty so graciously granted to me, then representing my father, at Windsor Castle for the Diamond Jubilee celebration.
