23,584 new Covid cases, 66 more deaths

The country registered 23,584 more Covid-19 cases and 66 new fatalities during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry announced on Sunday morning.
This compared with the 68 coronavirus-related fatalities and 24,592 new cases reported on Saturday morning.
There were 23,517 local cases and 67 imported cases.
The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration said in the afternoon briefing that the 66 new fatalities were between the ages of four months and 97 years old, and included one British and one Myanmar national. Senior citizens aged at least 60 accounted for 83% of the fatalities, it added.
Bangkok continued to log the most new deaths -- 14 -- while a further six were reported in Nakhon Si Thammarat, four in Chon Buri and three in Krabi. The five provinces of Surin, Sukhothai, Surat Thani, Samut Sakhon and Ratchaburi reported two deaths each.

Of the 23,584 new cases anounced Sunday, all but 67 were locally transmitted. Imported cases were dominated by 27 from Cambodia, all of them Cambodian nationals, followed by nine from Myanmar and five each from Israel and Germany.
New infections in the capital led the rest of the country, but dropped slightly from 2,985 reported on Saturday to 2,967 on Sunday.
Nakhon Si Thammarat came second with 1,438 new cases, followed by 1,191 in Chon Buri, 890 in Samut Prakan, 868 in Nonthaburi and 809 in Samut Sakhon.
On Saturday, 22,333 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus, while 227,336 people received treatment for the disease at hospitals, including 1,319 seriously ill patients and 438 dependent on ventilators
Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 3,184,825 Covid-19 cases, including 961,390 cases this year.
The accumulated death toll stood at 23,709 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The highest number of Covid-related fatalities in a 24-hour period was 312 recorded on Aug 13. The highest number of cases was 25,615 on Feb 26.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 1.4 million in 24 hours to 457 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 4,571 to 6 million.
