There were 69 more Covid-19 fatalities and 22,130 confirmed new cases during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Monday morning.
This compared with 66 coronavirus-related fatalities and 23,584 new cases reported confirmed on Sunday morning.
The figures did not include 15,650 positive results from antigen tests over the past 24 hours. This would raise the total to 37,780.
Apisamai Srirangson, spokeswoman for the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said in the afternoon briefing that the latest 69 fatalities were aged from two months to 99 years and included one foreigner, from Myanmar.
Bangkok had five new deaths and there were 10 in nearby provinces - in Kanchanaburi (2), Nakhon Pathom (2), Prachuap Khiri Khan (1), Samut Songkhram (3), Samut Sakhon (1) and Suphan Buri (1).
Other central plain provinces recorded 19 deaths - in Chon Buri (4), Ayutthaya (3), Lop Buri (1), Ang Thong (1), Sa Kaeo (1), Chanthaburi (1), Chachoengsao (1), Prachin Buri (1), Rayong (3) and Samut Prakan (3).
The Northeast had eight fatalities - one each in Nakhon Ratchasima, Mukdahan, Si Sa Ket, Amnat Charoen and Khon Kaen and three in Kalasin.
The South reported 18 deaths - in Nakhon Si Thammarat (2), Krabi (3), Phangnga (1), Phuket (2), Surat Thani (3), Pattani (3), Phatthalung (1) and Songkhla (3).
The North saw nine more coronavirus-related fatalities - in Chiang Rai (3), Phayao (1), Phetchabun (2), Uttaradit (1), Kamphaeng Phet (1) and Nakhon Sawan (1).
There were 22,034 new cases in the general population, 69 among prison inmates and 27 imported cases.
Of the new infections in the general population, 21,767 were confirmed at hospitals and 267 via mass testing.
Bangkok had the most new cases at 3,060, followed by 1,268 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, 1,117 in Chon Buri, 935 in Samut Prakan, 757 in Nonthaburi, 666 in Samut Sakhon, 609 in Ayutthaya, 588 in Pathum Thani, 573 in Nakhon Pathom and 540 in Ratchaburi.
The 27 imported cases came from 16 countries and included seven from Cambodia, three from the United Kingdom and two each from France, Belgium and Germany.
On Sunday 225,889 people received Covid-19 treatment - 63,429 at hospitals, including 1,353 seriously ill patients with lung inflammation and 453 dependent on ventilators.
The 24-hour period also saw 23,508 Covid-19 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
“Patients occupied more than 50% of hospital beds in Surat Thani (51.20%), Phuket (57.80%) and Chon Buri (50.60%),” Dr Apisamai said.
Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 3,206,955 Covid-19 cases, including 983,520 this year, with 2,957,288 complete recoveries to date.
The death toll stood at 23,778 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 2,080 so far this year.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 1.33 million in 24 hours to 458.52 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 3,514 to 6.06 million.
Over the past seven days, South Korea had the most cases of 2.10 million, followed by Germany with 1.41 million cases, Vietnam with 1.20 million cases and the Netherlands with 460,981 cases.
“New cases in Europe and America obviously declined while new cases are stable in Asian countries like South Korea, Vietnam, Japan and in our country,” Dr Apisamai said.
