Cabinet approves spending details of 2023 budget

The cabinet on Tuesday approved budget expenditure details totalling 3.185 trillion baht for the 2023 fiscal year, up 2.74% up on the previous year.

Deputy government spokeswoman Rachada Dhnadirek said proposed expenditures were 85 billion baht above 2022.

The cabinet also approved guidelines for improving details of budget expenditure by government agencies – initial consideration of budget details in March, opinion hearings on the draft budget in April and proposing the budget bill to the cabinet for consideration before forwarding it to the House of Representatives in May, Ms Ratchada said.

Details of budget expenditure for the 2023 fiscal year that the cabinet approved are:

- Regular expenses of 2.39 trillion baht, up 23.93 billion baht, or 1.01%, from the previous year; 

- Investment of 695 billion baht, up 83.14 billion baht, or 13.59%, from the previous year; 

- 100 billion baht to pay the principal on debt for fiscal 2023, equivalent to fiscal 2022.
