1,967 new Covid cases, 19 more deaths

There were 19 more Covid-19 fatalities and 1,967 confirmed new cases on Thursday, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported on Friday.
Thursday’s figures did not include 3,797 positive results from antigen tests over the past 24 hours. This would raise the total to 5,764.
This compared with the 17 coronavirus-related fatalities and 2,153 new cases reported on the previous day.
As of Thursday, a total of 21,030 people were receiving Covid-19 treatment (down from 21,205 the previous day), including 10,928 in hospitals (up from 10,882). Among the remainder 1,247 were in field hospitals/hospitel facilities (down from 1,594) and 8,674 in home/community isolation (up from 8,544).
Of those in hospital, 598 were seriously ill with lung inflammation (up from 594) and 288 dependent on ventilators (down from 301).
The 24-hour period also saw 2,123 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering.
According to the CCSA, the 19 people who died were aged 24 to 103 years.
Bangkok logged two more coronvirus-related deaths and there was one more in the adjacent province of Nakhon Pathom.
Other central plains provinces further from the capital reported five deaths - two in Ayutthaya and one each in Samut Songkhram, Nakhon Sawan and Phetchaburi.
The North reported three deaths - in Lampang, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.
The Northeast saw six fatalities - two in Sakon Nakhon and one each in Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Roi Et and Yasothon.
The South had two - in Chumphon and Songkhla.
Of the 1,967 new cases over the 24 hours, there were 1,963 in the general population, three among prison inmates and one arrival.
“New cases are steadily dropping and the local situation is moving towards its post-pandemic stage, which is possible from July 1 and will be promising for economic rejuvenation,” CCSA spokesman Taweesilp Visanuyothin said.
Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 4,494,880 Covid-19 cases, including 2,271,445 this year, with 4,443,428 complete recoveries to date.
The accumulated death toll stood at 30,422 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 8,724 so far this year.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 560,904 in 24 hours to 543.09 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 1,262 to 6.34 million.
The United States had the most cases at 87.86 million, up 76,023, and the most deaths at 1.04 million, up 170.
