Flooding continued in 19 provinces in the North, the Northeast and the Central Plains and affected about 2,800 villages, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported on Thursday.
The department said runoff from rainfall brought earlier by storm Noru, a monsoon trough, a low-pressure system and the monsoon was still causing flooding, with 2,557 villages in 13 provinces affected.
They were in:
the North
- Nakhon Sawan (unchanged flood levels)
- Phetchabun (stable flood levels)
- Phichit (subsiding floods)
the Northeast
- Buri Ram (unchanged flood levels)
- Chaiyaphum (deeper flooding)
- Khon Kaen (rising floodwater)
- Loei (stable flood levels)
- Maha Sarakham (also stable)
- Nakhon Ratchasima (stable flood levels)
- Si Sa Ket (rising floodwater)
- Ubon Ratchathani (rising flood levels)
the Central Plains
- Lop Buri (higher floodwater)
- Prachin Buri (rising flood levels)
In addition, waterways had overflowed into 285 villages in six provinces - Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Chai Nat, Pathum Thani, Sing Buri and Tak. Flood levels were rising in some areas, the department said.
