Police seized almost 2.5 billion baht worth of assets after raids across eight provinces in the Northeast yesterday.

Deputy national police chief, Pol Gen Chinnaphat Sarasin, said officers from the Narcotics Suppression Bureau raided a total of 30 locations across eight provinces, during which they found and seized 2.48 billion baht in assets, most of which were in the form of land titles and vehicles.

The raids followed the arrest of Wattana Sriwilai, who was caught with 1.97 million methamphetamine pills at a checkpoint in Nakhon Ratchasima's Sikhiu district on June 14, said NSB chief Pol Lt Gen Sarayut Sa-nguanphokhai.

Authorities then sought out three other people whom they believed were involved in the same drug trafficking ring.

Rawiwan Wannafak, 26, was arrested on Nov 30 in Sakon Nakhon, while Chakkraphong Khamchana, 38, was apprehended in Nonthaburi.

Authorities are still looking for Montri Laphom, a teacher in Song Dao district of Sakon Nakhon, but they have reason to believe that he has fled to a neighbouring country, Pol Lt Gen Sarayut said.

Investigators found evidence that the drug network set up two logistics firms, T.K.2019 Transport Co Ltd and SRP 2021 Logistic Co Ltd, as a front for its illicit activities, which led to yesterday's raids, he said.
