NAKHON NAYOK: A wildfire was spreading on the mountains behind the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy (CRMA) in Muang district of this central province late Wednesday night.

The fire started on Khao Chaphlu in tambon Phrommani on Tuesday evening, after lightning struck during a summer storm. On Wednesday evening, the fire spread to Khao Laem, a nearby mountain, due to strong winds.

Relevant officials were building firebreaks approximately half a kilometre away from the boundary of the wildfire. Fire trucks had been put on standby, and a firefighting helicopter had been deployed to help control the fire.

Nakhon Nayok governor Bancha Chaowarin and local authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
