A woman who bought a house from a bank was shot dead by the angry former owner, who refused to move out, at a housing estate in Pathum Thani’s Thanyaburi district on Tuesday afternoon.
Police were called to the scene around 3pm, inside a housing estate on Thanyaburi’s Khlong 11 in tambon Bueng Namrak.
The slain woman was gunned down on the road outside the house. She was identified in reports only as Kamolporn.
Police surrounded the house, where the former owner was holed-up. Negotiations were underway to get the shooter to surrender.
Police said the offender was a 65-year-old man, the former owner.
Reports said the house had been seized by the bank and sold. The woman bought it through the Legal Execution Department.
The new owner had arrived to talk to the man about leaving the house. This man allegedly instead shot at her with a gun, killing her instantly. Reports named the man only as Decha.
TV reported that at 5.17pm, one shot was fired from the house as a police special operations team surrounded the area. No report of injuries.
