RAYONG: Authorities in Rayong arrested three Myanmar nationals and one Thai man for fraud following a raid on an illegal Chinese-funded warehouse in Muang district.

The operation, which was led by Rayong governor Tripop Wongtrairat and involved officials from the provincial administration and a police special task force, uncovered thousands of returned parcels and another 5,000 which were ready to be shipped.

The warehouse, in tambon Tab Ma, is part of a fraud which saw low-quality products sent to unsuspecting customers under false pretences to force cash-on-delivery payments.

If the recipient refused, the parcels were returned and re-shipped to new addresses from a database. Authorities suspect involvement from insiders in the courier company.

The suspects face charges of illegal employment and fraud. Authorities have called for victims to come forward and are expanding their probe, the governor said.
