Asst headman killed in Pattani

An assistant village chief was killed and a villager seriously wounded in a gun attack in Pattani's Nong Chik district on Saturday night, police said.

They said the incident occurred at about 10.15pm while Manafi Dolo, the assistant chief of Village Group 5 in tambon Dato, was returning home on a motorcycle from the house of the village chief.

A man hiding on one side of the road opened fire at him with a .45mm pistol, hitting him many times in the body. A stray bullet also hit Abdulloh Hako, a villager, seriously wounding him.

Manafi was also seriously wounded. He was admitted to Nong Chik Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
