More than 30 people claiming to have done business with Ufun Store Co have filed complaints with police against the company's executives, police said.

Officers at the Consumer Protection Police Division said the victims met them yesterday to lodge complaints against the executives for cheating them out of more than 15 million baht.

Ufun Store has been accused of operating a transnational pyramid scheme in many countries and swindling more than 110,000 people out of 20 billion baht.

Earlier, a group of more than 50 people from 19 provinces lodged complaints with police against the executives, claiming they had been conned out of more than 22 million baht, according to Pol Lt Gen Suwira Songmeta, an assistant national police chief who was appointed to handle the case.

Pol Lt Gen Suwira said police expect to wrap up their probe in time to submit it to prosecutors early next month.

He urged any remaining victims to file complaints with police this month.

Police have been working closely with the Anti-Money Laundering Office, which has been examining Ufun Store's assets and selling them to raise money to compensate the company's victims, Pol Lt Gen Suriwa said.

Police have frozen the company's bank accounts and assets, with an estimated value of more than 400 million baht.

Dato Daniel Tay, an executive of Ufun Store, has denied allegations the company conducted its business in a fraudulent manner, saying it operated legally and has members in more than 80 countries globally.

The company is willing to comply with the law, co-operate with Thai authorities, and provide any information that is required in order to prove its innocence, Mr Tay said.
