Warrant out for 4 Ayutthaya cops

The Ayutthaya Court on Sunday approved a warrant for the arrest of four police officers from Ayutthaya police station over drug charges.

Pol Maj Gen Sermkid Sithchaikan, commander of Ayutthaya police, identified the four as Pol Lt Manop Iamsam-ang, 46, Pol S/Lt Praman Wonklam, 54, Pol Sr Sgt Maj Songwuth Saenchai, 50, and Pol Sr Sgt Maj Chaluay Klinsosum 44.

They are wanted on charges of abuse of authority, embezzlement and having drugs in possession with intent to sell. They have been sacked from the police service and are now on the run.

Earlier, another police officer, Pol Sr Sgt Maj Boonsueb Chumyim, was arrested, also on drug charges.

The Region 1 Provincial Police Bureau has also transferred Pol Col Phumsith Nawang, chief of the Ayutthaya police station, and his deputies to the Region 1 Provincial Police headquarters for neglect of duty that allowed their subordinates to commit legal offences.
