A half-dozen bombs ripped through six locations in Pattani’s Khok Pho district, injuring three people Tuesday night.
The blasts occurred at approximately at 7pm in the troubled southern border province. Three detonated in Khok Pho municipality and the rest in Na Pradu municipality.
Witnesses said motorbike passengers dropped the explosives on roads. The three injured people were in Khok Pho municipality.
They were identified as Chokechai Nonthikal, 70, Chadakorn Kanchanawong, 55, and Lamduan Kalmit, 56. The injuries consisted mostly of cuts from flying glass. Some properties also sustained damaged, including a car.
Authorities also were receiving reports of suspicious objects in both municipalities, so they closed all roads leading to both locations for checks by bomb experts.
Authorities assumed the attacks came in response to government efforts to tackle crime, especially drug trafficking.
