Popular actor Tridsadee "Por" Sahawong, who is being treated for dengue haemorrhagic fever, has had his infected left foot amputated above the ankle, Ramathibodi Hospital said on Sunday.
The 37-year-old actor, who has been in a coma for weeks, developed uncontrolled high blood pressure on Friday night as a result of an infection to his left foot, and amputation of the infected part was necessary. He also had bleeding in the left pleural cavity and had to undergo surgery on Saturday night to stem it, said the hospital.
Tridsadee’s blood pressure was under control on Sunday and his iris showed a normal response. His liver function and renal failure are unchanged, the hospital said in the latest update on his condition.
Muscle relaxants are being given so the respirator can function more efficiently. An assessment of his responses cannot be done, but the hospital said his gastrointestinal bleeding had been reduced.
The hospital said dengue germs are not now detected in his body, but he still requires treatment for critical complications and is being monitored carefully in the hospital's coronary care unit (CCU).
