NAKHON RATCHASIMA – A man sleeping near railroad tracks suffered a serious head injury when he was struck by a train in Chakkarat district on Monday morning.

Adul Thong-oon was napping beside the tracks when he was hit by metal framing in front of Ubon Ratchathani-bound train No. 425 as it neared a platform at Chakkarat station.

Paramedics administered first aid to Mr Adul, who was unconscious after the accident, and took him to district hospital where he was later transferred to Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital.

Chakkarat police investigator Pol Lt Col Anuroot Sangto said it was not known where the man was from and why he was sleeping there.

He asked hospital staff to test the victim's blood-alcohol level and questioned the train's driver.
