Prosecutors have charged six pro-election activists who rallied on Ratchadamnoen Avenue in February with sedition.

The court later granted them bail without surety on Thursday evening but warned they would be fined 200,000 baht if they breach the temporary release's conditions.

The six were Sirawith Seritiwat, 25; Anon Nampa, 33; Chonthicha Jaengreo, 25; Sukrit Piansuwan, 24; Nattaa Mahattana, 39; and Karn Pongprapapan, 25. 

They were charged with sedition under Section 116 of the Penal Code and violating an NCPO order banning political assembling of more than five.

Along with some 400 people, they rallied for an early general election at the Democracy Monument on Feb 10. Fifty people were later charged with violating the assembly ban but the co-leaders also faced the sedition charge. The group was later known as RDN50, short for the place of protest and number of people arrested.

Sedition charges carry a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
