Thanatorn Juangroongruangkit officially introduced Future Forward to the political arena on Monday, and declared his readiness to be prime minister if the party wins an election.

"The Future Forward Party is ready to make changes and Thanatorn is ready to be prime minister," he announced during the launch.

The party was formed in March this year and held its first meeting in May for members to pick leaders, but it took the Election Commission until last Friday to approve its registration.

The flamboyant leader stressed as key policies the party's opposition to an outsider prime minister after the polls, the constitution drafted by writers handpicked by the National Council for Peace and Order, and efforts to prolong the NCPO's authority after the election.

"The next election will determine the future of Thailand -- whether people want to remain under a dictatorship or opt for democracy," he said.

Future Forward plans to introduce policies on the economy, education and industry, and in other areas, to voters over the next three months.

Secretary-general Piyabutr Saengkanokul said the party will field candidates in all 350 constituencies. Future Forward was not an ad hoc party, but aimed for a long stay in politics, he said.
