Future Forward Party leader Thanathorn reiterated on Friday he would not flee from his court case and said his recent visit to Europe and America was to build up a political network and inform people of the situation in Thailand.

During a media conference at party headquarters in Bangkok, Mr Thanathorn said he had visited Brussels, Berlin, London, New York and Washington DC. He wanted to build a network with House representatives, foreign affairs officials and rights activists in other countries.

"Networking will facilitate our work when we are the government," he said.

Mr Thanathorn said during the trip he had explained the Thai political situation to the people he met. He had also learned about economic and political developments in other countries, and planned to apply them in Thailand.

What he learned would be incorporated in his party's campaign policies for the election of provincial administration organisations, he said.

Mr Thanathorn said he would not flee his court case. Earlier accusations he intended to escape during his recent trip were an affront to him and his party.

"I and the Future Forward Party sincerely intend to move Thailand forward and are ready to face prosecution cases," Mr Thanathorn said.

The Constitutional Court in May suspended him from his MP duties pending its ruling on a case in which he allegedly held shares in a media firm while applying to run in the March 24 election. The constitution prohibits MP candidates from having shares in a media company.
